The Southwest Indian Detours – A Family Heritage
“The Southwest Indian Detours – A Family Heritage” is a photographic journey that encompasses three generations. Jack and Lucile Stacy were involved in the Southwest Indian Detours in the late 1920’s until the mid 1930’s. Jack was a driver and master mechanic for the Fred Harvey and Hunter Clarkson Indian Detours, while Lucile was a Courier. Jack Stacy started his own taxi and touring business in 1936 and continued to drive tourists to many locations throughout New Mexico and Arizona for the next twenty one years. In 1939 Jack and Lucile Stacy purchased the 1929 Cadillac from the Indian Detours and it became an integral part of the Stacy Family until it was donated to the Amfac Resorts Inc., dba Fred Harvey Company in 1993. The 1929 Cadillac was restored by Xanterra in 2024 and it will be used to provide a glimpse of years past, when the Southwest Indian Detours had their heyday.
