NAVAJO FRED HARVEY INGOT SILVER CIGAR BAND RING 1930’S TUCSON ESTATE

There are still clear signs of the original silver solder join at back. Weight is very good for the form at about 7.9 grams on my portable digital scale. Be aware I have avoided every urge to refresh or “improve” upon anything – you want that done you do it.

Item Description from Seller

From a Catalina Foothills estate in Tucson is this I believe 1930’s or perhaps prior  Navajo ingot silver cigar band ring, construction features fully indicative of a crafting in prewar times. The finger ornament features old style hand accomplished prepared stamp embellishment all around, the interior showing evidence of being artisanally wrought from an early century coin. There are still clear signs of the original silver solder join at back. While these were occasionally offered alongside more visitor oriented so called Fred Harvey examples during the period, the tribal aesthetic here is a lot closer to what we all hope for.  Depression era and prior treasures like this were a reasonable expectation from exceptional Old Pueblo estates through the 1990’s or so – believe me when I say not so much anymore. Weight is very good for the form at about 7.9  grams on my portable digital scale. Condition is quite fine with a nice aura of time to the silver surfaces. Be aware I have avoided every urge to refresh or “improve” upon anything – you want that done you do it. The ring retains its crafted shape, and the join is as made. Normal and expected signs of period service simply validate the history.  A look at those pics should give a good idea of appearance and condition. Ring size is at least a generous 8 1/2 and possibly 8 3/4 on my jeweler’s mandrel (the bottom edge of the shank reaches between those lines on the mandrel). About 7/16 in. wide all around – and yes it will be noticed. If you prefer historic Navajo and Pueblo efforts over things more recent, or simply wish a single immediate improvement to the ambiance of each day, this will have great meaning for you. .
