This is the original Fred Harvey souvenir edition featuring stunning full-page chromolithographs by artists such as E. Irving Couse, J. Allen St. John, and Fernando Perea. Printed by the American Colortype Company and published by the Fred Harvey Company, it was intended for sale at Harvey House hotels and gift shops to promote awareness of Native cultures of the American Southwest, particularly the Hopi, Zuni, Navajo, and Pueblo peoples.
The volume showcases a mix of cultural reverence and period interpretation, with detailed images of traditional pottery, portraits, ceremonies, and everyday life. A striking example of early 20th-century ethnographic illustration and railroad tourism history.
