Item Description from Seller
Please consider this classic authentic and earliest example of a Navajo
silver tourist spoon dating back to decades of Fred Harvey era, around
1900. This one is early punched Navajo design and hand hammered,
cut, chiseled and filed condition is rudimentary as expected without breaks or
repairs. It features on top an image of figural swastika and decorations down
the handle. Swastika was a symbol of universal welfare and good luck in the
Indian culture, not to be confused with its later representation adopted by
German Fascist Nazi party. Bowl also has stamped design around, two crossed
arrows and swastika in the center. The spoon is ready to highlight any Native
American spoon collection. Original Indian silversmiths of this time
period, around 1900, used American or Mexican silver coins so it is not exactly
.925 sterling, it is .900 pure silver. The Native American spoons are an
important part of American Folk Art. Typically these types of spoons were made
as souvenirs from states such as New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, Colorado, Texas
or California. It measures 4-3/4” inches (120 mm) and is in excellent
condition. Shipping on multiple purchases is gladly combined. Please see other,
