Vintage Southwestern style sterling silver and bezel-set turquoise ring, size 5.5. Fred Harvey era– c. 1930s-1940s. Made by the Pacific Jewelry Company in Santa Monica, CA. Signed “JP” and stamped “STERLING.” I have not tested the stone, but I believe this is a type of stabilized turquoise that is mixed with resin. This was typical of jewelry produced by this manufacturer. EXCELLENT vintage condition… I had it inspected and sized by a jeweler.
The Pacific Jewelry Company manufactured Native American “inspired” jewelry for the burgeoning tourist trade in the Southwestern U.S. in the first half of the 20th century. These pieces were NOT made by Native American artisans, but are well-made and have become highly collectible in their own right.
